CALENDAR OF EVENTS

OPPORTUNITY CENTRE – WILLIAMS LAKE

As part of the Community Living Month Celebration our participants traveled to Williams Lake to attend a gathering at the Opportunity Centre. Everyone had a chance to interact with peers and take part in playing chimes. This was a new experience for many of our clients. They were impressed with the photographs  of different events displayed on the walls.

EXPLORATION PLACE – PRINCE GEORGE

The Exploration Place trip gave our participants a chance to hold a live snake. The taxidermy exhibit was really interesting.  There was a space shuttle simulator that was a very different experience and was the highlight for some clients.

RICHBAR NURSERY - QUESNEL

The trip to Richbar Nursery was a chance to look at lots of different plants and flowers.  The golf course was something new to learn about. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful lunch with cheesecake for dessert.

10 MILE LAKE - QUESNEL

The trip to 10 mile Lake was a day trip spent getting some exercise and enjoying the fresh air.  The clients went on a good hike and saw a beaver pond and beaver house.  The afternoon ended with a healthy picnic lunch.

KERSLEY PLAY - KERSLEY

Our participants attended the Kersley Play "Peter Pan".  Everyone thought the actors were very talented and it was nice to see a live performance.

BARKERVILLE - WELLS

A day trip was made to Barkerville. Although it was a bit cloudy, everyone wandered through lots of old buildings and walked along wooden sidewalks.  The souvenirs were a big hit and the participants learned how metal can be used to make other things.

GIBRALTER MINES – MCLEESE LAKE

Our clients traveled to learn about mining at Gibralter Mine site.  Everyone got to wear a hard hat and safety vest.  The machines were very big and they even got to see some blasting take place.  The plume of dust and feeling the ground shake was exciting.
